A short break to the Isle of Man

  Douglas Bay from the north (from my window in the Palace Hotel)......but where are the tourists?
    
 Douglas Bay and Harbour, from the south.   Palace Hotel is the last building at the far end of the bay.
 
     The Laxey Waterwheel, built 1854 to pump water from mines (copper, lead and zinc).

   Horse drawn trams on Douglas Promenade have operated almost continuously since 1876.
   
  Snaefell Mountain Railway train operates from Laxey to the summit of Snaefell (2036 feet)
 
The Manx Electric Railway (1894) operates from Douglas, via Laxey, to Ramsey.
