WHY WE SHOULD VOTE PRO UK ON 4th MAY AND ON 8th JUNE

BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF SCOTLAND WANT A RETURN TO STABLE, COMPETENT,

NON-DIVISIVE POLITICS – NOT A  POLITICS INFLUENCED BY LOUD-MOUTHED

POLITICIANS, LOTTERY WINNERS, OR MOBS OF UNRULY, FLAG-WAVING YOUTHS.

BECAUSE hatred of the English is a sickness in Scottish society that needs to be eradicated.

BECAUSE SNP claims made before the referendum, and targeted at the relatively poor

in our society, that we can all make ourselves hundreds of pounds better off by becoming

independent are completely false.

BECAUSE, on the other hand, increased taxes and reductions in public spending would be

inevitable in an independent Scotland.

BECAUSE there is strength in numbers.  Backed up by Britain’s 63 million population

we are much better able to protect ourselves against unforeseen events such as world

financial crises and oil price crashes than if backed only by Scotland’s 5 million people.

BECAUSE, in a fair society, the country’s resources, including what’s left of our North Sea oil,

should always be shared equally among all the citizens of the United Kingdom.

BECAUSE thousands of jobs would be at risk, in shipbuilding, finance etc.

BECAUSE giving up the protection of our nuclear deterrent, in an increasingly unstable

world, is completely unacceptable.

BECAUSE, in that unstable world, we still have our stability for now, and we should

maintain it and cherish it.

BECAUSE independence would inevitably result in years, if not decades, of chaos and turmoil.

BECAUSE we already have the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS  - our own Scottish parliament

backed up by a UK government in Westminster which is much better able to handle matters

like foreign policy.

BECAUSE we want the security of our shared currency, pensions, welfare state,

national health service……

BECAUSE we don’t want to destroy our United Kingdom and, with it, 300 years of history,

sharing, tradition, inventiveness, culture……..

BECAUSE we don't want to lose the FREEDOM of living in a single, unified, borderless

island.

BECAUSE of our children and grandchildren, who will be growing up in a Scotland

of rapidly decreasing oil resources.

BECAUSE independence would be irreversible – there would be no going back.

BECAUSE, IN A REFERENDUM ON 18TH SEPTEMBER 2014, THE SCOTTISH PEOPLE

CHOSE BY A SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY OF 55 PER CENT TO 45 PER CENT TO REMAIN

WITHIN THE UNITED KINGDOM, A DEMOCRATIC DECISION WHICH SHOULD

BE RESPECTED.
